Cathie's Cat Grooming

Cathie's Cat Grooming is a mobile, cat-only grooming service based in Glenroy in Melbourne's northern suburbs, run single-handedly by Cathie, a veterinary nurse with more than 25 years of experience. The business works within a 20km radius around Coburg, reaching the Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs, and Cathie travels with her own table and equipment, asking only for a small secure room with power.

The approach is built around low-stress, feline-first handling rather than speed. Cathie works slowly and patiently, gives cats regular breaks, and respects each animal's tolerance, drawing on a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience and feline behaviour qualifications. Pheromone spray, gentle bribery, varied techniques and purpose-made equipment all play a part, and some cats are split across multiple sessions so they can settle. This makes the service a fit for senior cats, cats with medical conditions, and cats that need sedation under a vet-prescribed plan using Gabapentin. Larger breeds such as Maine Coons are catered for too.

Cathie is upfront about how she works: grooming is by appointment only, often booked weeks ahead, and she is candid about what each cat can comfortably handle.
