About Scruffy's Doggy Day Care, Grooming and Training
Scruffy's is a doggy daycare, grooming and training centre on Winbourne Road in Brookvale, on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The business has operated from its current site since 2011 and is council approved, with a string of local accolades behind it including Best Grooming Salon from Dogs Life Magazine and Best Pet Services Business at the Manly Daily Business Awards.
The grooming side runs from an open-plan room built around warm hydrobaths, purpose-built drying tables and flexible grooming stations, with the aim of keeping the process calm rather than rushed. Dogs are free to roam amongst the action, or can be held in a smaller, quieter area for a more settled day, and they can rest in cosy beds or use the grooming play area once their groom is finished. Every dog is groomed to the owner's preferred style, and the team keeps detailed records of each clip so the look can be refined over repeat visits. With new puppies, the groomers will work through a few appointments to develop a style the owner likes. The team spans senior groomers with more than ten years of experience, junior groomers in training, and experienced washer-bathers.
Grooming runs by appointment, and the salon books out, so planning a few visits ahead is encouraged, particularly heading into summer.

Yes. Scruffy's offers a 24-hour quality guarantee. If you are not happy with a groom you can call and arrange to pop back in for minor adjustments. Detailed records are kept of each dog's grooms to help develop the exact clip you like.
What happens if my dog is matted?
De-matting can cause pain and trauma, so where a coat is badly matted the only safe option is a short shave. If changes to the planned groom are needed, the team will call you first, and matted or extra dirty dogs incur an additional charge of $30 per 15 minutes.
How early should I book a grooming appointment?
The grooming salon gets booked out and gives preference to regular attendees, so booking two to three appointments ahead is recommended, especially leading up to summer.
When should I drop off and pick up my dog for grooming?
The grooming salon is open 8am to 4pm, with arrivals from 7am allowed. Pick up before 3pm is free; pick up after 3pm or combined with daycare is $25. From 4pm dogs are returned to daycare for safety and supervision.
