About Seaside Paws

Seaside Paws is a boutique dog grooming salon on The Esplanade in Brighton, a short walk from Brighton Dog Beach. It is the work of Orlena, who has been grooming since 2010 and ran a salon in Black Rock for eight years before opening this smaller, more personal studio. Maggie, a parti poodle, holds the role of salon supervisor and helps keep the mood calm for every dog that comes in.

The approach here is deliberately unhurried: one dog at a time, no rushed appointments, and a focus on making grooming a positive experience a dog is happy to return to. That suits Brighton dogs of all coat types, from puppies having their first introduction to the salon through to senior dogs aged thirteen and older, who receive extra care with their owners kept nearby. Coat work ranges from breed-standard cuts and style clips to wash and tidies for double-coated breeds, with sensitive-skin, oatmeal and medicated shampoos on hand for dogs that need them. Dogs are never sedated.

For owners who want a gentle, considered groom rather than a production line, Seaside Paws offers exactly that.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most dogs benefit from grooming every 4 to 8 weeks to stay clean, healthy, and comfortable.

How long does a grooming appointment take?

Appointments typically take 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on your dog's size, coat condition, and temperament.

When should I start grooming my puppy?

Puppies can be introduced to grooming at around 10-12 weeks old, after their final vaccinations. Monthly visits are recommended until they are 9-10 months old.

Do you groom senior dogs?

Yes. Extra care is given to dogs aged 13 and older, and owners are asked to remain nearby during these appointments.

Will my dog be sedated?

No. Seaside Paws never sedates dogs. If a dog is too anxious or aggressive to continue safely, the session is stopped and a vet consultation is recommended.

Can I stay with my dog during the groom?

No. For your dog's comfort, focus, and safety, owners are not able to stay during the grooming process. You'll get a text when your dog is ready.

What if my dog has allergies or sensitive skin?

Oatmeal or medicated shampoo is available for an additional fee, or you are welcome to bring your own product.

Where can I park?

Free 2-hour street parking is available on Chelsea Street. Parking directly outside the storefront is restricted to 4:00–6:30pm Mon–Fri and 6:00–10:00am Sat–Sun.
