Sudzwoofer is a home-based dog grooming salon on Howse Crescent in Cromer, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, run single-handedly by a groomer who swapped a career working with people for one working with pets. The defining feature is simple: only one dog is groomed at a time. There are no crates, no queue of waiting animals, and dogs are never left unattended or made to compete for attention, which suits pups that find busier salons overwhelming. The groomer's background is unusually credentialled for a small operation. She holds a Certificate 2 in Animal Studies from the Taronga Zoo Training Institute, trained at The Grooming School under international judge and grooming ambassador Christine Speerin, undertook Asian Fusion training with Pru Hammond, and gained experience preparing dogs for Channel 7's Pooch Perfect. Grooming covers the full range, from a basic wash and blow out through to full grooms with de-matting, a dedicated de-shed treatment, and a colour service for owners who want their dog to stand out. Products are chosen to enhance coat and improve skin quality without harmful additives, using all-natural ingredients including Natural Silica to help avoid dry skin. Bookings are essential, and demand has been strong enough that the salon currently runs a waitlist for new clients.
