About Tiny Tails Retreat

Tiny Tails Retreat is a boutique dog and cat grooming salon on Russell Street in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, built around small to medium dogs but happy to take on larger breeds case by case. The salon frames grooming as a calm, considered experience rather than a quick clip, with a menu that runs from a simple bath and dry through to full styling and breed-specific trims, plus a growing cat grooming offering.

The approach leans gentle and unhurried. Puppies under twelve months are welcomed in for a free first visit, spending time settling into the space so early grooming builds confidence instead of fear, and the team writes of a careful, caring touch for dogs that find the process stressful. Grooming plans are tailored to coat type and how recently a pet was last done, with separate paths for short coats, fluffy coats that need de-shedding, and pets going longer between visits. It suits owners of small companion dogs, anxious or first-time pups, and cats needing anything from a tidy-up to a lion cut.

Booking is by appointment, with weekend slots limited and held with a deposit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you groom puppies?

Yes. Puppies under 12 months are invited to stay at the salon for up to an hour at no cost, with a free wash and dry available on request, so early grooming builds positive associations gradually.

What grooming appointment should I book?

Choose based on coat and timing: Bath and Dry for pets groomed within the last four weeks, Bath and Tidy to maintain a current style on short-coated breeds, Full Groom for pets ungroomed four to six weeks or with longer coats, and Full Groom and Brush Out for very fluffy coats needing de-shedding.

Can I request a specific groomer?

Yes. Requests can be added in the additional information section of the booking form, though availability with a particular groomer isn't guaranteed.

Do you groom cats?

Yes. Cat grooming options include a Groom Out (wash, dry, nail clip, paw pad shave and brush out), a Full Groom, and a Lion Cut with the mane and tail retained.

Do you accept dogs over 20kg?

Dogs over 20kg are assessed case by case, and dogs slightly over the limit are generally accepted. Email hello@tinytailsretreat.com.au with breed and weight to check.

Do you do ear plucking or anal gland expression?

No. Ear plucking is not offered due to the risk of irritation, and anal gland expression is left to a vet, who is recommended for any related issues.

How do I book a weekend appointment?

Weekend appointments are limited and require a 50% deposit to secure. Bookings can be made online or by phone on 0403 803 605.
