About Vanity Fur Dog Salon

Vanity Fur Dog Salon is a dog grooming salon on the Sunshine Coast at Maroochydore, open since 2017 and paired with its own espresso bar so owners can settle in with a coffee and cake while their dog is groomed. The salon builds its whole approach around one idea: an exclusive, stress-free groom rather than a production line.

Every booking is one dog to one groomer, with the dog handled continuously from start to finish. There are no cages here, including the usual cage drying after a bath, and dogs that finish before their owner returns get the run of the daycare to play, drink or nap. The team uses its own calming blend to help anxious pets relax, and works firm but gentle, talking the dog through the experience. Products are organic, chemical-free and Fair Trade sourced, which suits owners managing allergies or product sensitivities. The staff are diploma-qualified, experienced groomers whose range runs from de-sheds through to Asian fusion styling, with puppy mini grooms encouraged from the second vaccination so young dogs get used to the salon.

It is a dogs-only, salon-based operation rather than a mobile service, suited to owners who want unhurried attention and a calm room for a nervous pooch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age can I bring my puppy in for grooming?

Mini grooms are offered for puppies from their second C3 vaccination, which the salon encourages so pups get used to the salon and its noises. Full grooms are offered from 5 months of age, as clipping a puppy's coat younger than this can cause permanent damage to the fur.

Do you groom cats or other animals?

No. Vanity Fur grooms dogs only and is unable to service cats or guinea pigs, though it does stock a range of cat food.

Are dogs kept in cages?

No. There are no cages at Vanity Fur. Each dog has a dedicated groomer and is handled continuously, and dogs are not put in a cage to drip dry after their bath. If an owner can't return straight away, the dog has the run of the daycare to play, drink or nap.

Do you offer a mobile or home-visit grooming service?

No. Vanity Fur is a salon-based, in-store service rather than a mobile one, which the salon says lets it provide a timely, consistent service.

What products do you use for grooming?

The salon runs a chemical-free environment and uses products that are organic, chemical-free, pet-safe and sourced from certified Fair Trade ingredients, with care taken for pets prone to allergies or product sensitivities.

Do you offer a free consultation or quote?

Yes. Owners are welcome to bring their dog by for a look and an estimate. Sharing as much as possible about the dog's personality and prior grooming experience helps the salon quote accurately, as an aggressive or very anxious dog can take longer and cost more.

My dog has fleas. Can I still bring it in?

Yes. Vanity Fur offers an organic flea treatment. This option should be selected when booking so the pet can be isolated and appropriate cleaning carried out afterwards. Owners should also treat bedding, carpets and other pets at home.

What does the tooth brushing service involve?

It is a firm but gentle brush of the dog's teeth and gums with a doggy toothbrush and a toothpaste from the Natural Vets in Forest Glen. It is not a veterinarian dental clean and won't resolve existing tartar, plaque or dental problems.
