Winky Wonky Dog Wash

The Winky Wonky Dog Wash is a dog washing and grooming service based in Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast, run as part of Integrated Disability Support Services. It operates a salon as well as a mobile dog wash trailer that travels to clients' homes, so dogs can be cared for either at the Birtinya salon or in their own backyard.

The service grew out of two simple aims: to employ people with a disability and a genuine love of dogs. The team is led by head dog washer Di, who brings more than a decade of experience with animals and works as a qualified support worker, alongside mobile dog washer Lauren and six dog washers who have disabilities and are building skills, earning wages and finding their place in the workforce. That mix gives the wash an unhurried, people-first feel that suits dogs who do better with patient, attentive handling. Grooming on offer runs to a hydro bath, chamois, blow dry, fur clipping and de-shedding.
