About Groomed by Stella
Groomed by Stella is a home-based dog grooming service in Dandenong North, in Melbourne's south-east, working from a setup on Rawdon Hill Drive. The focus is straightforward, hands-on grooming for dogs of all coat types, built around a warm hydrobath and a careful, unhurried approach to each pup.
The service range covers the basics through to the works: a bath and blow dry with nail trim and ear clean for short-haired dogs, a bath and tidy with hygiene and face trims for small long-haired breeds, and a full groom with body clip, hand scissoring and head styling for clipping breeds such as Cavoodles, Poodles, Maltese and Bichons. Double-coated dogs like Spitz and Pomeranians are catered for with a de-shedding groom-out that lifts excess undercoat. Only gentle, premium products are used, with Plush Puppy and Melanie Newman Salon Essentials among the preferred brands. Puppies are welcomed once vaccinations are complete, with first grooms kept calm and reassuring to build lasting confidence. Stella does not sedate dogs, relying instead on patience and gentle handling.
It is a quieter, one-on-one alternative to a busy salon, suited to owners who want their dog handled with care.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my dog groomed?
Most dogs benefit from grooming every 6 to 8 weeks, though it depends on their breed, coat type and lifestyle. Regular grooming helps prevent matting and keeps the coat healthy.
Can I stay with my dog during the groom?
No. Dogs often become excited, restless or anxious when their owner is nearby, and most settle much more quickly once their owner leaves.
Will you sedate my dog?
No, never. Stella uses gentle handling and patience instead. For dogs that become overly stressed, a vet consultation is suggested.
How long does a groom take?
Most grooms are completed within 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the size, breed and grooming style. A text notification is sent when your dog is nearly ready.
When should I bring my puppy in for a groom?
Once vaccinations are complete, at around 12 to 16 weeks. A puppy's first visit is a bath, gentle brushing, nail trim and plenty of reassurance to build a positive experience.
Why do you shave matted dogs rather than brush the mats out?
Matting causes skin discomfort, and dematting by brushing or combing can be very painful and stressful for a dog. Shaving is the more humane option. An extra charge applies for the additional time, care and wear on equipment.
